Win Tickets For Editors And We Were Promised Jetpacks Here!

Editors have tried to shake off the annoying yoke of being dubbed the British Interpol for years, despite their own, platinum-selling, commendable career over a span of two albums: their 2005 Mercury Prize-nominated debut The Back Room and 2007's An End Has A Start.

But the Birmingham band's brand of darkly propulsive, glowering-in-black-trenchcoats rock has hit its zenith in recent months thanks to their steely, synthpunked third album In This Light an on This Evening which was produced by Mark "Flood" Ellis, known for his work with U2, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave and Nine Inch Nails. It's a refreshing and bold move for Editors, harkening back to vintage Depeche Mode, Neu! and Tubeway Army whilst still maintaining their strangely uplifting brand of bleak Brummie despair. You can see the band flex their sleek synths and grumbling guitars when they come to Terminal 5 on February 9.

Scottish upstarts We Were Promised Jetpacks released their vigorous, wired debut These Four Walls on Fat Cat last year and are gaining a boothold in the States, much like their friends and labelmates Frightened Rabbit. Given robust, keening knockabouts like "Quiet Little Voices", expect to hear a lot more from the WWPJ crew. They're on their first-ever headlining tour here and will be charging in Bowery Ballroom on February 11 ... and you can win a pair of tickets.
