Hot Chip Will Play A Not-So-Secret Free Show On Friday In New York
In what might be the worst-kept secret of the week, Hot Chip will be playing a free, all-ages show on Friday, February 5 at Highline Ballroom in Manhattan with opening act Free Energy. Tickets are are on a first-come, first-served basis and doors open at 7 p.m. (but expect the line to be around the block and beyond by then).
The gig, sponsored by MySpace Music, marks the release next week of Hot Chip's new (and rather sensually mellow) album One Life Stand, the eclectic UK group's fourth effort.
Fans who can't quite squeeze into Highline Ballroom - or who don't live in New York - can experience a live stream of the show via, well, Livestream, at Hot Chip's MySpace page at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on Friday.
Opening act Free Energy, the vivacious Philly band that exudes the glam-with-a-grin spirit of Cheap Trick, will release their debut album Stuck On Nothing, produced by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, on Astralwerks/DFA later this year.
