Mark Ronson Taps Miike Snow, Santigold And Scissor Sisters For Upcoming Album
Mark Ronson, the DJ and producer known for his work with Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen on their breakout albums, has recruited Miike Snow, Santigold, Scissor Sisters and others for his third solo album, The Business.
The album, due out later this spring or early summer, also includes collaborations with Atlanta rapper Pill and songwriter/dance artist Cathy Dennis, who has penned tracks for Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue.
Ronson told NME.com that unlike his 2007 release Version, which covered tracks by Coldplay, The Smiths and Kaiser Chiefs, The Business will consist entirely of original songs.
"There's no covers, and no horns," said Ronson. "It's written with some of the people that actually wrote the songs I covered on the last album and that I didn't actually even know at the time. It's quite interesting to write songs from scratch with those people, like Dave [McCabe of The Zutons] who wrote 'Valerie', and Nick [Hodgson, of Kaiser Chiefs]."
Ronson hopes to release the album no later than June.
