Tennis Serves Up A New Album For Valentine's Day
Seafaring pop trio Tennis will return in 2012 with a brand new album, called Young and Old, produced by The Black Keys' Pat Carney. The album is set for release on February 14, Valentine's Day, on Fat Possum. The album follows swiftly on the heels of the band's debut, Cape Dory, which dropped early this year.
Married couple Aliana Moore and Patrick Riley and drummer James Barone recorded Young and Old with producer Carney in Nashville over a three-week stretch. The album's first single, "Origins," currently streaming on the band's site, will be released December 6 on limited edition, blue 7-inch vinyl as a double A-side with "Deep in the Woods." The single is available for pre-order now on Forest Family Records.
No clues as to whether sailing plays as significant role in the Denver-based band's sophomore album as it did on their first, but according to a press release, Riley describes the new album as sounding like "Stevie Nicks going through a Motown phase." In addition, most of the songs' arrangements will nudge the band to adding a fourth touring member.
Tennis launches a brief December tour beginning December 6, the day of their single's release, in Phoenix.
