Interpol

Interpol Add Fall Dates In The States

Interpol, whose summer tour plans were derailed when their tourmates U2 were forced to cancel a slew of dates following Bono's back surgery, have announced additional fall tour dates here in the States. They are currently on tour with Twin Tigers and The Postelles and will join U2 for an array of European dates in September and October.

The fashion-conscious New York rockers, down to a trio following the departure of bassist Carlos Dengler earlier this year, release their self-titled fourth album on September 7 on Matador Records.

According to the label's blog, the band will perform their new track "Barricade" on "The Late Show with David Letterman" tonight, July 29.

Interpol aficionados will be pleased to know that if they pre-order the album on iTunes, they'll instantly receive a free download of that very song as well as another track, "Crimewaves," that isn't on the album and is only available if you order Interpol prior to its street date. Plus, there are assorted deluxe pre-order configurations available Interpol's own website. If you show the guys a little pre-order love, the band will shower you with posters, t-shirts, vinyl pressings, videos - everything except Paul Banks' phone number.

Alice Glass of Crystal Castles

Win Tickets To See Crystal Castles, The Soft Pack And Panda Bear

We'd like you to win tickets for three amazing shows in August and September: Crystal Castles at Terminal 5 (August 21), The Soft Pack at Bowery Ballroom (September 10) and Panda Bear at The Beach on Governor's Island (September 11).

Toronto's Crystal Castles are known for their incendiary, even obnoxious live performances (vocalist Alice Glass allegedly punched a fan who groped her during their Latitude Festival set earlier this month) and their ferocious, yet strangely beautiful dance music, as evidenced on the duo's second album Crystal Castles which was released in May. Expect that something either brilliant or brazen will happen when when the over-the-top Glass and partner Ethan Kath take over Terminal 5 on August 21.

The Soft Pack's bright, pop-leaning garage rock and crafty live shows earned them a lot of early buzz (back when they called themselves, regrettably, The Muslims) and their self-titled debut album finally dropped late last winter. It's a scrappy mix of short, sharp, buoyant songs, ripe with lean guitar licks and Matt Lamkin's coolly playful, but thoughtful vocals. The Alternate Side saw them play this past March at SXSW and we were impressed; we're pretty pleased that they're returning to New York to play Bowery Ballroom on September 10.

Animal Collective's Panda Bear, aka Noah Lennox, is finally following up on his tremendous 2007 release Person Pitch with his fourth solo album, Tomboy, due out this fall. The title track, backed with the B-side, "Slow Motion," was released via Paw Tracks earlier this month as a limited edition 7-inch single and on iTunes. In the weeks and months leading up to Tomboy's release, other 7-inch singles will follow on a variety of record labels, like Domino and Fat Cat. And yes, Lennox's appearance at The Beach on Governor's Island on September 11 is a perfect way to say goodbye to summer and segue to fall.

Arcade Fire

Terry Gilliam Set To Direct Arcade Fire's MSG Webcast

Monty Python alumnus Terry Gilliam, whose unorthodox directorial credits include movies like The Fisher King, Brazil and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, will be overseeing Arcade Fire's live webcast of their August 5 show at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The Associated Press reports that the webcast, which will be streamed on Arcade Fire's VEVO page beginning at 10 p.m. EDT next Thursday night, is part of a new online series called "Unstaged," sponsored by American Express, VEVO and YouTube. The series will bring bands together with notable directors and five streamed concerts are slated thus far, including one with The Roots and John Legend.

Back in May, The National worked with Oscar-nominated documentary filmmakers D.A Pennebaker and his wife/partner Chris Hegedus (The War Room, Jimi Plays Monterey) for a live webcast.

As for the match between Gilliam and Arcade Fire, our fingers are crossed for a robust cover of "Month of May" by the Knights Who Say Ni.
