Solo artist and ex-Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy doesn't mind being dubbed the "Godfather of Goth" and the man and his former bandmates have influenced a battery of rockers -  goth and not - like Nine Inch Nails, Interpol, The Horrors and Smashing Pumpkins. Murphy, who recorded his new album Ninth in the pastoral, decidedly non-goth environs of Woodstock, New York,  visited The Alternate Side for a very special live session a few weeks ago. He was charming, disarmingly chatty and frank about the final breakup of Bauhaus. Listen to the entire interview tomorrow, July 15, on 91.5 WNYE at 11 a.m. or via the TAS stream. San Francisco's incomparable John Vanderslice might have one of the keenest ears in indie rock. The producer (The Mountain Goats) and musician, who championed Sufjan Stevens and St. Vincent early in their careers, also happens to have a new album of his own, White Wilderness, a collaboration with conductor Minna Choi's Magik*Magik Orchestra. Listen: Tinariwen With TV On The Radio

TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe are featured on "Tenere Taqqim Tossam," the first track off of Malian Tuareg desert blues collective Tinariwen's fifth album, Tassili, which is out this August via Anti- Records. Tinariwen launch their North American tour this Thursday, July 7, in Chicago and will play an intimate New York show on July 20 at Highline Ballroom. Video: Watch Bon Iver's "Calgary"

Bon Iver's masterful sophomore album is out next week, June 21, and the video for the first single "Calgary" has been released. There's fire, water and pretty, sleepless people wandering in the woods. It's all a bit vague too, befitting Justin Vernon's cloaked lyricism.
