Björk, the Icelandic iconoclast, artistic adventurer and occasional friend of elves (and Stephen Colbert), commences her 10-show Biophilia residency in New York tonight, February 3,  at the New York Hall of Science in Queens (other shows will take place at Manhattan's Roseland Ballroom). Last week Rita Houston, music director of The Alternate Side's sister station WFUV, visited Björk at her Brooklyn home studio and chatted with the 46-year-old singer about the scope of the upcoming shows, the challenge of reworking older songs and her life as a part-time New Yorker. The Kills' Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, who kick off their North American tour on January 20 in Chicago, premiered the new video for their fourth single "The Last Goodbye" today via Nowness. The clip was directed by actress Samantha Morton, twice nominated for an Oscar, and flimed in monochrome on 35mm. The Kills play New York's Terminal 5 on February 11, which marks their 10th anniversary together.

No, LCD Soundsystem aren't reuniting — James Murphy and his crew said farewell nearly a year ago, on April 2, 2011 at a sold-out show at New York's Madison Square Garden. However, a documentary film about Murphy and that final performance, called "Shut Up and Play The Hits," will be screened at this month's Sundance Film Festival.
