The TAS Top 20 For The Week Ending May 27

Poliça haunts the peak of the TAS Top 20 with Give You The Ghost while Here We Go Magic and the Walkmen sail onto the album chart with two exceptionally good albums.

The Walkmen Return With 'Heaven' In June

New York's The Walkmen return this summer with a sixth album, Heaven, due out on June 5 (June 4 in the UK/EU). They've also set support dates with Florence and the Machine and a spot on the lineup for May's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry festival, curated by The National.

The National Tour Again With A Four-Night New York Stand

The National, joined by friends like The Walkmen and Wye Oak, are gearing up for a November through mid-December world tour with stops in Asia, Australia and, happily, North America. Even better, they've plotted a four-night stand at New York's Beacon Theatre in December - with a different opening act each night. Tickets go on sale for that this Friday, 9/16, but pre-sale begins tomorrow, 9/14.

TAS SXSW Preview: Tennis

Tennis, the married duo of Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, are in the midst of a headlining tour supporting their breezy, buoyant debut album, Cape Dory. The much buzzed-over band play two gigs in New York next week, on March 2 and 3, and make their SXSW debut in a few weeks. The Alternate Side caught up with Riley, who emailed us at a roadside stop as the couple traveled by van to a Kansas gig, and he told us about the stress of SXSW, sailing and the accidental birth of their beautiful record.

TAS In Session: Flashback 2010 (Part Two)

Last week we gave you the first part of TAS In Session: Flashback 2010,  looking back at many of bands and musicians who passed through Studio A over the past year and highlighting some of the songs played in live performance. We also updated you on what these artists have planned for 2011, from tours to new recordings to free downloads you can find this very minute on their websites. This week, the promised Part Two of our reminiscence and we've rounded up another collection of 2010's  live performances from Stornoway, The Walkmen, Field Music, The Morning Benders, El Guincho, The Tallest Man on Earth, Stars, Lost in the Trees, K-os and many more.

TAS Interview: The Walkmen's Walter Martin On Homecoming 2010

The Walkmen return to New York for their homecoming 2010 gig this Thursday, December 2 at Terminal 5 with Brooklyn's School of Seven Bells and Denver's Tennis. The Alternate Side caught up with bassist Walter Martin over email to hear all about their gig in Lisbon playing tracks from their new album Lisbon and what rock legend they wouldn't mind finding wrapped up - well, roped up - under the Christmas tree this year.

The Walkmen Roll Out More Tour Dates

The Walkmen, who play New York's Terminal 5 on December 2 with School of Seven Bells and Tennis, have rolled out additional tour dates in support of their breezy, but muscular new album Lisbon.

The quintet dropped by The Alternate Side over the summer to play a mini-concert of four tracks from Lisbon: "Angela Surf City," "Juveniles," "Woe Is Me" and "Torch Song."

SXSW 2010 Report: Broken Bells, Codeine Velvet Club, Chew Lips, The Morning Benders And More

The confluence of St. Patrick's Day and beginning of the SXSW music festival made things a little more wild than usual (forget about getting into any Irish pub to see any Irish band), but The Alternate Side managed to catch Spoon, Codeine Velvet Club, Broken Bells, Everything, Everything, The Morning Benders, Chew Lips, The Walkmen and more on Wednesday night.
