The TAS Top 20 for The Week Ending August 21

It's a Pacific Coast takeover on the TAS Top 20 as L.A.'s Fool's Gold and Portland-based Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks debut while Seattle's Shabazz Palaces finally become kings of the chart, dethroning Bon Iver.

Win Tix To Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks At T5 On September 26

Although last year's Pavement reunion slightly sidelined Stephen Malkmus' solo trajectory, he wasted little time getting back into the studio to work on his fifth album, Mirror Traffic, shrewdly recruiting Beck as his producer. The record, which is out on August 23, is easy-going with a firm bite; the first single, "Senator," has funny, but FCC-damned lyrics that ferociously defy easy airplay. The Alternate Side is giving away tickets to see Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks play Terminal 5 on September 26 and we can't wait for the inevitable, uncensored "Senator" sing-a-long.
