Smith Westerns Back With New Video And North American Tour

Smith Westerns will release a third album on June 25, called Soft Will, and will embark on a North American tour beginning on July 21, passing through Brooklyn for a July 24 gig at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Watch the band's new video for the song "Varsity."

Chicago rockers Smith Westerns didn't have the best year. Although they released the well-received Dye It Blonde early in 2011, things took a sobering turn over the summer when they found themselves on stage when a wild storm hit Belgium's Pukkelpop Festival, killing four people. The trio is trying to lauch 2012 on a better note with a wintery North American tour, their last before working on their next album, and The Alternate Side is giving away tickets to their Webster Hall show on January 31.

Smith Westerns Involved In Stage Collapse At Belgium's Pukkelpop Festival

UPDATE: Smith Westerns first reported via Twitter on Thursday night, August 18, that were involved in a tragic stage collapse during a storm at Belgium's Pukkelpop Festival, the band's first European festival stop. As of Friday morning, five people were confirmed dead and over 70 fans injured. The balance of the festival has been cancelled by Pukkelpop organizers. Smith Westerns, Fleet Foxes, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Wolf Gang and Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars, who were at the festival, have tweeted that they are safe. This latest accident comes on the heels of the tragic collapse of stage rigging that killed five people at the Indiana State Fair last weekend, just prior to a Sugarland gig,
