Sigur Rós releases its new album, Kveikur, on June 18 Stateside (June 17 in the UK/EU) and the video for title track has been released by the band. The hallucinogenic video, directed by Sarah Hopper, utlizes a mix of concert footage and archival film from the British Film Institute.

Sasquatch! 2013 Lineup Includes The Postal Service, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend

It's February ... and the lineups for spring and summer festivals are being released at a fast and furious rate. The Sasquatch! Music Festival 2013, which takes place May 24-27 in Gorge, Washgton, has tapped The Postal Service, Mumford & Sons, The xx, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sigur Rós and more for the four-day event. Festival passes go on sale Saturday, February 9, at 10 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST).

Sigur Rós Announces A Spring North American Tour With A Madison Square Garden Stop

Only a handful of years ago, Sigur Rós was playing cozy venues like the lobby of the Museum of Modern Art and the Beacon Theatre. Now the Icelandic band is eyeing its first concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on March 25, one stop in a North American tour planned for early spring. Tickets go on pre-sale for fans on November 14 and will be available to the general public on November 16 and 17. 

Sigur Rós Cancels Bestival Webcast, Calls UK Set A 'Miserable Experience'

Although the jubilant, eclectic Bestival is one of the highlights of the UK festival circuit, the Isle of Wight experience was apparently less than stellar for Sigur Rós on Sunday night. The Icelandic group, playing its only 2012 UK gig, pulled the plug on a webcast, apparently dismayed that they were pushed into slot, preceding Orbital and Stevie Wonder, that had them performing in daylight. A surprisingly frank statement went up on Sigur Rós' website on Monday, calling the set "a thoroughly miserable experience" for the band.

Although tonight's Sigur Rós concert at the Prospect Park Bandshell is sold out, the Celebrate Brooklyn! gig will be broadcast live on The Alternate Side and 90.7 WFUV, streaming on both sites too. The live performance, which begins at 8:30 p.m. EDT, is being presented in partnership with NPR Music.

Sigur Rós Plan 'Floaty' And 'Ambient' Album For Spring

Sigur Rós, who release their documentary and iive double album Inni in the States on November 15, have been working on their next studio album, described by frontman Jónsi Birgisson as "floaty and minimal." The still-untitled record is the band's first since going on hiatus in 2008 and is due out this spring. Inni will open for a limited run in New York at IFC Theater tomorrow, November 11.

Sigur Rós Returns With Double Live Album And Concert Film

Sigur Rós, who signaled that something was afoot a few days ago when they released a mysterious film trailer on their website, do indeed have a project brewing, although it's not a new studio album as many fans had hoped. Iceland's sonic auteurs will be releasing a double live album and 75-minute film, called Inni, at a date yet to be determined. The film, which debuts at the Venice Film Festival on September 3, is a document of the band's final London show prior to their ongoing hiatus which began in 2008.
