TAS In Session: Flashback 2011, Part 2

Last week, The Alternate Side posted the first part of TAS in Session: Flashback 2011 featuring artists like The Drums, Laura Marling and Real Estate. This week, round two of some of The Alternate Side and our sister station WFUV's favorite performances from the last year, including the pensive wizardry of James Blake, the stirring poetry of Elbow and the sprawling pop boulevards crossed by Fool's Gold.  In addition to revisiting highlights, like Low's far-from-somnolent "Try To Sleep," or YACHT's incendiary "Dystopia," we'll also link to the original sessions and update you on what's coming up in 2012 for many of TAS' notable artists and bands.

The TAS Top 20 for The Week Ending August 21

It's a Pacific Coast takeover on the TAS Top 20 as L.A.'s Fool's Gold and Portland-based Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks debut while Seattle's Shabazz Palaces finally become kings of the chart, dethroning Bon Iver.

The TAS Top 20 for The Week Ending August 14

Beirut floats onto the TAS Top Twenty with The Rip Tide while the "indie supergroup" trio of Mister Heavenly also debut.  And guess who still reigns as king of the album chart?

Listen And Watch: The Shivers On TAS In Session On WNYE 91.5

Local New York band The Shivers has survived an array of lineup changes, but its current core duo of Keith Zarriello and Jo Schornikow seems a steadfast, strong pairing. Desperately seeking the perfect analogue studio, Zarriello and Schornikow traveled to Manchester, England to record their pretty new album, More. The record is out now on Silence Breaks Records in the States and set for a UK release on September 26 via Fence Records. Catch the entire TAS in Session with The Shivers on 91.5 WNYE this Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. EDT and streaming on the TAS website.

The TAS Top 20 for The Week Ending July 17

Handsome Furs and The Shivers add a cool blast to the TAS Top 20 while Bon Iver (repeated twice) maintains a whispery hold on the summit of the album chart.
