Watch: Shearwater Playing "Insolence" At WFUV's SXSW 2012 Showcase

Shearwater, on a bill with the Punch Brothers and Gary Clark Jr., brought a majestic intensity to WFUV's second SXSW showcase on Friday afternoon at the Austin Convention Center. The band, fronted by Jonathan Meiburg, released their eighth album, Animal Joy, last month on Sub Pop, and explored much of that album during their performance. TAS And WFUV SXSW 2012 Coverage Includes Live Broadcasts, Springsteen And Much More

Both WFUV and The Alternate Side will be in Austin this week for the SXSW music festival, the annual aggregation of emerging and established bands and the music industry. We want to bring our listeners down to Texas for the gigs, the barbecues and 6th Street mayhem. Austin's indie naturalists, Shearwater, released their latest musical journey to the wilderness, The Golden Archipelago, in late winter. The band visited The Alternate Side for a studio session, spoke to our own Alisa Ali and played "Castaways," "An Insular Life," "Meridian" and "Landscape of Speed."
