Sharon Van Etten: SXSW 2012 Interview

Brooklyn's Sharon Van Etten, a veteran of many SXSW tours of duty, had a particularly powerful set at Stubbs on Wednesday night, as part of NPR Music's showcase, playing songs from her new album Tramp which dropped last month. It was a triumphant night for Van Etten and The Alternate Side will feature highlights from her set tonight, March 16, on TAS on 90.7 WFUV and streaming on the site. WFUV's Rita Houston caught up with Van Etten at Hotel San Jose in Austin and learned more about the genesis of Tramp, the wooing of The National's Aaron Dessner as producer and how New York constantly inspires her ... and kicks her butt.

The War On Drugs has released a brand new vidoe for their track "Brothers," off of Slave Ambient, out now on Secretly Canadian. The somber, shadowy (and darkly filmed) video of an elderly, gun-toting cowboy and his nurse was directed by the team of Ben and Alex Brewer.
