PJ Harvey, Bon Iver, Elbow, Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines and Feist are among the nominees for the 2012 Brit Awards, the UK's equivalent of the Grammy. The awards will be handed out on February 21 in London with Florence and the Machine, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Blur, with their first live appearance in three years, slated to perform.

PJ Harvey Releases ITunes Sessions EP

PJ Harvey, who just brought home her second Mercury Prize last week for her war-ravaged album Let England Shake, releases an exclusive iTunes EP today, September 13. The seven-track, live performance EP, which includes an interview, covers not only songs from her last album, but older Harvey material, like "Down By The Water."

Undoubtedly one of the best albums of Polly Harvey's 20-year career, Let England Shake is a clear-eyed, poetic impression of war, national bellicosity and its aftermath. Every track provokes a strong emotional response without hammering home an overt political message. During her sold-out, two-day Terminal 5 run late last month, Polly Harvey chatted with The Alternate Side about her tireless research of war-weary soldiers and civilians, the evolution of this album and her affection for the autoharp.
