Phoenix has been spending a lot of time in New York of late — far removed from decent Parisian croissants — recording at Oscilloscope Laboratories, playing "Saturday Night Live" and "The Late Show with David Letterman," and doing loads of press for their new album, Bankrupt!. On Monday, May 13, Phoenix will play a sold-out show at the Apollo Theater with another date at the Barclays Center in October. The quartet chatted with The Alternate Side's Alisa Ali about an array of eclectic inspirations, zigzagging from the eBay pruchase of Michael Jackson's recording console to a tiny toy keyboard. Phoenix Plays Free Show At Music Hall Of Williamsburg On April 5

Phoenix, set for Coachella next weekend, will play a free warm-up show at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight, April 5, at 6 p.m. According to the band's Facebook page, a limited number of entry wristbands are available at the MHOW box office from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT. First come first served. Phoenix release Bankrupt! in the States on April 23 (April 22 in the UK/EU).

The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Phoenix And More For Glastonbury

The lineup for Britain's Glastonbury Festival, likely the most famous all of the outdoor festivals,  will include headliners the Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys and Mumford & Sons on the Pyramid Stage, plus Vampire Weekend, Primal Scream, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds,  Portishead, Public Enemy, Phoenix, Elvis Costello, The xx, Cat Power, Dizzee Rascal, Foals, Johnny Marr, Dinosaur Jr., and many more. The iconic festival, currently sold-out, takes place June 28-30 on Worthy Farm in Somerset, England.

The release of Phoenix's Bankrupt! is a little over a month away and, to accompany the band's first single, "Entertainment," there's now a video. The clip, directed by Patrick Daughters (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Feist) is a breathless mix of virtually every Asian cinema trope imagineable, including a faux Phoenix in concert. It might not make much sense, but it's certainly steeped in intrigue.

But we, the staff of The Alternate Side, did our best and though our minds might change tomorrow, this is how it stands for today.
