The UK-born Truck Festival will make its second appearance Stateside this summer, with Okkervil River, The Hold Steady, Wye Oak and Ra Ra Riot among the first bands announced for the event, which takes place September 9-11 in the bucolic Catskills.  Early bird tickets for the Truck America Festival are on sale now.

Okkervil River Will Perform New Album On NPR, Streaming Live April 27

Anxious to hear Okkervil River's new album, I Am Very Far? The band's latest oeuvre won't be released until May 10 on Jagjaguwar, but tonight, April 27, Will Sheff and company will perform I Am Very Far in its entirety at Austin's Cactus Cafe. Better yet, NPR will stream the entire show - live - for your listening pleasure.

TAS Interview (SXSW Artist): Will Sheff of Okkervil River

Okkervil River return with their first album in three years, I Am Very Far, on May 10 and they've been rolling out new material from the record at SXSW this week (they play Antone's at 1 a.m. tonight, which we'll count as late on March 18). The Alternate Side's Russ Borris caught up with frontman Will Sheff for a quick tête-à-tête and was surprised to learn that if it weren't for SXSW, Okkervil River would have never gotten its big break. Okkervil River, who debuted their new song "Wake And Be Fine" on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Monday with A.C. Newman and Questlove, will release their first album in three years, I Am Very Far, on May 10.

New Zealand's punchy popsters Lawrence Arabia, who will be touring with Crowded House this summer, dropped by Studio A during a recent stop in New York. Frontman James Milne regaled The Alternate Side's Alisa Ali with explanations of pineapple lumps and Shoreditch hipsters and the band played several songs from their award-winning second album, Chant Darling.

Austin's indie naturalists, Shearwater, released their latest musical journey to the wilderness, The Golden Archipelago, in late winter. The band visited The Alternate Side for a studio session, spoke to our own Alisa Ali and played "Castaways," "An Insular Life," "Meridian" and "Landscape of Speed."

The National Expand Summer Tour Dates With Pavement, Beach House, Fanfarlo, Okkervil River and More

The National will be living out of suitcases for a long time; the Brooklyn band has expanded their summer tour and will be gigging with everyone from Pavement to Rufus Wainwright.
