TAS In Session: Flashback 2011, Part 2

Last week, The Alternate Side posted the first part of TAS in Session: Flashback 2011 featuring artists like The Drums, Laura Marling and Real Estate. This week, round two of some of The Alternate Side and our sister station WFUV's favorite performances from the last year, including the pensive wizardry of James Blake, the stirring poetry of Elbow and the sprawling pop boulevards crossed by Fool's Gold.  In addition to revisiting highlights, like Low's far-from-somnolent "Try To Sleep," or YACHT's incendiary "Dystopia," we'll also link to the original sessions and update you on what's coming up in 2012 for many of TAS' notable artists and bands.

TAS In Session: Milagres

Tags: Milagres

It's always rewarding to see a local band shift from anonymity to across-the-board accolades. Brooklyn's Milagres have been around for about five years, but lead singer/songwriter Kyle Wilson re-shaped the band and his music after he had a serious climbing accident. The result is Milagres' powerful, tender second album - what they perceive as their real "debut" - Glowing Mouth.  Milagres recently visited The Alternate Side for a particularly uplifting, rowdy live set - you can listen to that session this Friday, September 23, on TAS on 91.5 WNYE at 11 a.m EDT. In addition, Milagres mark their album's release with a special gig at New York's Mercury Lounge on September 30 with Peter Wolf Crier.
