Win Tickets For Metric At Radio City Music Hall On September 23

It's not even summer yet, but The Alternate Side is looking ahead to the autumn and giving away tickets to see Metric's big gig at New York's Radio City Music Hall on September 23. The band's fifth album Synthetica — which is being offered as a free digital download for fans who actually purchase tickets to any stops on Metric's fall tour —  will be released on June 12.

There seems to be a palpable buzz — and some degree of coy secrecy — about Metric's upcoming album, their fifth, called Synthetica. Those wily Canadians don't release the record until June 12, but they've finally unleashed a single, "Youth Without Youth," out today, and they have also announced tour dates. Note Metric's impressive upgrade to New York's Radio City Music Hall and check out the single after the jump.

Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup: Soundgarden, Arcade Fire, Green Day, The Strokes, Lady Gaga And Phoenix

The folks behind the Lollapalooza festival have revealed the event's 2010 lineup with the reunited Soundgarden, Broadway's Green Day, Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, Phoenix and The Strokes as headliners. Other bands and artists include MGMT, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Grizzly Bear, Devo, The National and the recently arrested Erykah Badu. The festival takes place August 6-8 in Chicago

The Alternate Side Staff Picks Our Favorite Albums of 2009 ... And The Decade

It's not easy to choose your favorite albums or singles of 2009, let alone the entire decade. But we, the staff of The Alternate Side, did our best and though our minds might change tomorrow, this is how it stands for today. A quick survey of everyone's lists has one constant on five out of six lists: Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Plus, it's our birthday - The Alternate Side is a year old today - so we're feeling especially merry and celebratory.

We Love Metric. Note the capital "L."  Their new album, Fantasies, is a start-to-finish pleasure to listen to. The band took some time off after the last record so they could actually live life and form new experiences. They prefer to offer up songs that people can relate to. Quality over quantity, I say.
