Listen And Watch: TAS In Session With The Luyas On 91.5 WNYE

Montréal's experimental popsters The Luyas are currently touring with The Dodos and play Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg this Monday, September 12. Led by the pretty vocals and cryptic lyricism of frontwoman Jessie Stein, The Luyas are still supporting their wintertime release, Too Beautiful To Work, out now on Dead Oceans. The quartet - or "fourtet" as they call themselves - recently visited The Alternate Side for a very special session with Alisa Ali which you can hear in its entirety this Friday, September 9, at 11 a.m. EDT on TAS on 91.5 WNYE and streaming on the TAS website.

CMJ Spotlight: The Luyas

One of the just-can't-miss bands playing at this week's CMJ Music Marathon is Montréal's The Luyas, who create an angular, yet ethereally serene brand of orchestral-leaning rock. The Luyas, whose lineup includes former (and current) members of Arcade Fire and Bell Orchestre, play tonight and tomorrow in New York and then launch a brief December tour with The Antlers. The Alternate Side caught up with singer Jesse Stein who told us of the band's CMJ plans, working with Owen Pallett and why their sophomore album will mark a shift for the band.
