The Flaming Lips Determined To Break Jay-Z's Guinness World Record

Those kooky rock 'n' roll kids. First Jack White pokes fun at the Guinness World Record folks with a mostly-in-jest attempt to jam as many metaphors as he can into a single concert and now the Flaming Lips have declared their intention to take down Jay-Z's 2006 Guinness world record of playing the most live gigs in 24 hours in multiple cities. They'll even stream it all live on June 27.

It seemed to be a toss-up between prior winners Lady Antebellum, Eminem or Lady Gaga, but Arcade Fire surprised Marshall Mathers and the Ladies - and even themselves - by winning Album Of The Year for The Suburbs at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Other winners included Black Keys, Neil Young (his first music Grammy) and Esperanza Spalding, who upset tweens everywhere by dashing Justin Bieber's Best New Artist hopes.

The Brit Awards, the UK's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, took place in London on Tuesday night and the winners included Florence and the Machine, Kasabian, Jay-Z, newcomer Ellie Goulding and a hat trick for Lady Gaga (who walked the red carpet in what seemed to be white drapes with a lace mask and Marie Antoinette-inspired, soufflé of cotton candy on her head).
