The TAS Top 20 for 2012

Over the last year, dozens of albums have climbed up and down the TAS Top 20 album chart. Here are the 20 releases that spent the most time on the chart, with Alt-J, Divine Fits and Dinosaur Jr. leading the way.

The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Jack White Rack Up Grammy Nominations

The 55th Grammy Awards seem far away — they won't be handed out until February 10 — but the nominees were announced last night, December 5, in a televised concert on CBS. Frank Ocean, The Black Keys, Jack White, The Chemical Brothers, Alabama Shakes and M83 are among the nominees, with Ocean nominated for a staggering six awards, including Album of the Year and every other major category.

Jack White Announces Radio City Music Hall Show

Jack White has added another New York stop to his fall tour plans supportng his solo album Blunderbuss. He'll play Radio City Music Hall on September 29. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 3 at 10 a.m. EDT, but members of Third Man Records Vault get a headstart with a pre-sale beginning today, August 1, at 10 a.m. EDT.

The TAS Staff Picks Our Top Albums And Singles Of 2012 ... So Far

The first half of 2012 has already come and gone. The Alternate Side staff, looking at the scores of WAV files, MP3s, CDs and even vinyl singles we've trundled through over the past six months, is slightly overwhelmed by the abundance of good music, so we've made some midpoint selections for our top 10 (or 11) albums and tracks of the year thus far. We have the freedom to change our minds completely by December, but in the meantime, bands and artists like Japandroids, Jack White, Hot Chip, The Walkmen, 2:54, Zeus, Public Service Broadcasting, Father John Misty, Cold Specks, Alt-J, Bobby Womack and Damon Albarn have made the cut. Jack White's Rolling Records Store Will Dole Out Tickets In NYC Today

Jack White and his Third Man Records squad certainly know how to wake up a sleepy Thursday in New York. To mark this week's release of Blunderbuss, Third Man Records' Rolling Record Store will distribute free tickets to Jack White's sold-out American Express Unstaged concert today, April 26. The concert, which will be filmed, takes place at Webster Hall tomorrow, April 27, throughout the city today, April 26. They'll make it easy to find the van too, tweeting their locales throughout the day. Five locations and just five pairs. Good luck!

Bear in Heaven, Spiritualized and rock's holy man Jack White make up the celestial trio debuting on this week's TAS Top 20.

Lollapalooza Lineup Includes Sigur Rós, M83, Jack White, The Black Keys, Black Sabbath

Lollapalooza's lineup is finally official and the eclectic mix includes Jack White, the Black Keys, Sigur Rós, M83, Passion Pit, Die Antwoord, the Shins, the Weeknd, Justice, Florence and the Machine, the Walkman, Frank Ocean, Alabama Shakes and the recently reunited Black Sabbath, the Afghan Whigs and At the Drive-In. The festival takes place August 3-5 at Chicago's Grant Park.

Jack White, My Morning Jacket, MGMT Salute Public Radio Music Month

April marks Public Radio Music Month, an event that's not gone unnoticed by musicians and bands like Jack White, My Morning Jacket, MGMT, Best Coast, the Roots, Passion Pit and Wye Oak or indie labels like Jagjaguwar and Sub Pop. They have all signed an open letter thanking public radio stations for "taking chances" and "asking intelligent questions" about music.  

Jack White Releases Dark, Disturbing "Sixteen Saltines" Video

Jack White's dark, dystopian video for "Sixteen Saltines," off of his upcoming solo debut Blunderbuss, has premiered on VEVO and on White's own website. The video for the second single from the album, which is due out April 24 on Third Man Records/Columbia, is set in an urban landscape governed by feral children and teenagers who spew blue liquids, run wild with dogs and cause general mayhem. White, who appears at the very end of the clip, directed by AG Rojas, is thrust into a gasoline-soaked predicament, seemingly destined for an unhappy ending.

The SXSW-bound Jack White, who debuted his new song "Sixteen Saltines" live during the Lindsay Lohan-hosted "Saturday Night Live" of March 3, is now streaming the studio version of that song on his website in advance of the release of his solo album, Blunderbuss, due out on April 24 on Third Man Records/Columbia. The single of "Sixteen Saltines," backed with the non-album track (and U2 cover) "Love Is Blindness," is available on March 20.
