Horse Feathers: TAS In Session

Oregon folk collective Horse Feathers released a fourth, exquisitely crafted album earlier this year, the wryly christened Cynic's New Year. Despite the title, there's far more optimisim that makes its way into singer and songwriter Justin Ringle's thoughtful and often tender lyrics. Horse Feathers embarks on a fall tour next month — a stop at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory is set for November 14 — and over the summer the band dropped by Studio A for a session. Read the interview with Horse Feathers and watch the three-song set of "Bird On a Leash," "Fit Against the Country" and "Where I'll Be."

TAS in Session: Horse Feathers

Horse Feathers, a whimsically-named quartet of folk rockers from Portland, Oregon, recently released a third album, Thistled Spring on Kill Rock Stars. The band, led by singer, songwriter and guitarist Justin Ringle, will be heading out on tour this summer, with stops at the Newport Folk Festival, the Philadelphia Folks Festival and the Ottawa Folk Festival. Horse Feathers dropped by The Alternate Side not long ago to play three songs: the album's title track, "Starving Robins" and "Belly of June."
