TAS In Session Flashback 2012: Part Two

Throughout the last year, The Alternate Side staff has chatted with dozens of up-and-coming and established bands in our live sessions, spanning the globe from Dalama, Sweden (The Tallest Man On Earth) to Toronto, Canada (Metric) to San Francisco, California (Geographer). The first part of our TAS in 2012 retrospective was published last week, and as we dive into 2013, we're revisiting more of those sessions — and live performance videos — that we liked. We'll also report on what's coming up for those bands in 2013. We also offer up another big round of applause for the intrepid WFUV/The Alternate Side engineering and video teams too.

Geographer: TAS In Session

Based in San Francisco, Geographer actually has local roots thanks to singer and songwriter Michael Deni, a New Jersey native. Following a series of family tragedies, Deni left the tri-state area and headed to the Bay area for a fresh start. He began the buoyant electro-rock infused Geographer with cellist/keyboardist Nathan Blaz and drummer Brian Ostreicher. They released their latest album, Myth, earlier this winter and not long ago dropped by The Alternate Side's Studio A. Listen to the session when it airs this Friday, May 18 on TAS on 91.5 WNYE at 11 a.m. EDT, also streaming on the TAS site. After the jump, check out interview highlights and watch the performance.
