Frightened Rabbit Return With Autumn Tour Of North America, New EP And Album Ahead

A fourth album is in the works for Frightened Rabbit, due out in early 2013, and the band has announced a North American tour this October. The 13-city trek follows on the heels of the band's upcoming, still-untitled EP, set for release on September 25th and marking the Scottish group's first for major label Canvasback/Atlantic. Frightened Rabbit's tour includes a date at New York's Bowery Ballroom on October 8.

The National Cover The Philistines Jr. For New Compilation (Audio)

The National, who have a four-concert run at New York's Beacon Theater this December, join Jónsi, Frightened Rabbit, Mates of State, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Mercury Rev, The Kissaway Trail and more for a special edition — including remixes and covers —of the Philistines Jr.'s 2010 album If A Band Plays in the Woods ...? due for release on November 1. Scottish rockers Frightened Rabbit hit a slight volcanic hitch delaying their North American tour - they were stranded at Heathrow Airport for days, wryly tweeting of their discontent. The quartet is finally on this side of the pond, catching up on lost time. Recently, The Alternate Side caught up with singer and songwriter Scott Hutchison who revealed his sunnier aspirations for the band's third album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks, and admitted that the best advice he's ever received was "don't be bitter." Tour Plans Of Bands Disrupted By Volcanic Ash Cloud; Coachella Cancellations

The massive disruption of flights from Europe and the UK to the US thanks to the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull (and no, we can't pronounce it either), resulting in an enormous ash cloud harmful to airplanes, has also derailed the Coachella and North American tour plans of The Cribs, Frightened Rabbit, Bad Lieutenant, Delphic, Gary Numan, Los Campesinos! and many more. Los Campesinos! have rescheduled their Saturday gig at Maxwell's to Wednesday, April 21.

The folks behind the Lollapalooza festival have revealed the event's 2010 lineup with the reunited Soundgarden, Broadway's Green Day, Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, Phoenix and The Strokes as headliners. Other bands and artists include MGMT, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Grizzly Bear, Devo, The National and the recently arrested Erykah Badu. The festival takes place August 6-8 in Chicago
