The Walkmen Return With 'Heaven' In June

New York's The Walkmen return this summer with a sixth album, Heaven, due out on June 5 (June 4 in the UK/EU). They've also set support dates with Florence and the Machine and a spot on the lineup for May's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry festival, curated by The National.   

Florence + The Machine Release New Single And Details On Sophomore 'Ceremonials'

Last month's mere hint of Florence + The Machine's upcoming album, the somber sweep of the teaser track "What The Water Gave Me," has now progressed to real details. The album, titled Ceremonials, will come out in the UK on Island Records on Halloween and will drop Stateside in November -  exact date still to be determined - on Universal Republic. Florence And The Machine Release First Single From Second Album

Florence Welch teased fans with a couple of tweets yesterday, August 22,  indicating that - post-studio and in the sunshine - there would be information about Florence and the Machine's second album on her website ... and she was true to her promise. A new single, "What The Water Gave Me," is up on her site now - and you can view the video after the jump.

My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Modest Mouse On All-Star Buddy Holly Tribute Album

Bespectacled rock 'n' roll legend Buddy Holly is the subject of an all-star tribute album, called Rave On Buddy Holly, marking what would have been the late singer's 75th birthday this September. The auspicious lineup of bands and artists doing Holly-inspired covers includes My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Florence and the Machine, The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, Cee Lo Green, She & Him, Karen Elson (produced by husband Jack White) and Justin Townes Earle. The album will be released this June.

Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Gorillaz, Vampire Weekend Among Grammy Nominees

The nominees for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards were announced last night in a splashy ceremony with Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, Broken Bells, Gorillaz - and even Laurie Anderson - receiving nods.

To summarize it briefly:  videos by Black Keys and Florence and the Machine both won well-deserved MTV moonmen, Chelsea Handler was a perfectly awful host, Taylor Swift was dependably off-key, Lady Gaga changed outfits constantly and despite the big buildup, Kanye West was a snooze.
