Rich McLaughlin

Rich comes to WFUV after seven years at Sirius Satellite Radio, where he programmed and hosted two popular music channels, "Alt Nation" and "Left of Center." Rich joined Sirius in its infancy, helping to create several of the company's radio stations before its national launch in 2002. During his time at Sirius, Rich hosted a weekly music show called Cooking With Pappy, interviewing artists ranging from Yoko Ono to The Beastie Boys to Courtney Love. He also assisted in bringing BBC Radio 1 to the Sirius platform, and served as the liason between the two companies.

Born in the Morris Park section of The Bronx and raised on Long Island, Rich was no stranger to WFUV. He graduated from Fordham University in 2001, and learned the radio ropes while working in WFUV's music and sports departments as a student. "I love being back at WFUV, it's my favorite radio station," he says. "The Alternate Side is a new channel that's going to change the way New Yorkers discover music, and I'm psyched to be part of such an ambitious project."

Rich is a lifelong New Yorker, married to a NYC public school teacher. His favorite band is R.E.M., his favorite actor is John Cusack (despite his recent efforts), and he enjoys reading - especially books on personal finance. Rich's favorite local sports teams are the Mets, Jets and Islanders.
