One of our favorite holiday compilations of the year is the new EP from the Moshi Moshi label, A Christmas Gift For You, which features cool Yule tunes from Summer Camp (taking on The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping), Slow Club, James Yuill with Rod Thomas, The Wave Pictures and more. The Alternate Side caught up with Summer Camp, Yuill and bassist Franic X from The Wave Pictures and learned how their holiday season was panning out ... and what they were anticipating for 2011.

Bright Eyes Set Late Winter Tour In Anticipation Of Seventh Studio Album

Bright Eyes' seventh studio album, The People's Key, drops on February 15 and the trio of Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott (joined by four other touring musicians) has set a slew of late winter tour dates, including a second date at New York's Radio City Music Hall on March 8.

Little surprise that Deerhunter's excellent Halcyon Digest is back atop the TAS Top 20 album chart, but the "and" bands -  Matt and Kim, Antony and the Johnsons and Belle and Sebastian - are challenging Bradford Cox and his crew.

TAS In Session: The Tallest Man On Earth

Soft-spoken Swedish singer Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth, dropped by The Alternate Side not long ago to chat about his recent EP, Sometimes The Blues is Just a Passing Bird, the fairly quick followup to his second album, The Wild Hunt, which was released in the spring. Kristian wanted to play his red electric guitar for us, so we were treated to plugged-in versions of "The Dreamer" and "Tangle in This Trampled Wheat." But who ever figured Kristian for a "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" fan?
