Nadine Shah: Five Essential Albums

Nadine Shah doesn't release her debut album, Love Your Dum and Mad, until July 23 (July 22 in the UK), but the London-based singer-songwriter's disarming, sultry and brutally beautiful vocals have earned her quick critical comparisons to PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and even Leonard Cohen. Intrigued by Nadine Shah's torchy, turbulent music, The Alternate Side asked what might be on Shah's "essential" list when it came to albums and artists she loved  ... and she came back with choices as surprising as her songs.

Gorillaz Release New Album On Christmas, Made On iPad

Never mind Rudolph and his band of reindeer; a group of Gorillaz were far more stealth on Christmas Eve, releasing a brand new album, called The Fall, which was made via iPad while the band was touring North America this past autumn. Although the record is only available for members of the Gorillaz' fanclub at the moment, anyone can stream it right now on the band's site. Merry Christmas!
