Watch Iron And Wine Live At WFUV

Iron and Wine's Sam Beam recently released his fifth full-length album, Ghost On Ghost, which is an expansive affair, complete with lush backing vocals, strings,  a horn section and a deep affection for a retro-'70s sound. Beam brought along nearly a dozen bandmates when he played live for WFUV a few weeks ago. Watch the videos here and listen to Iron and Wine's session with WFUV. Better yet, catch Iron and Wine at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY this Sunday, May 19.

Karen Elson's Studio A Session Now On NPR

When Karen Elson visited The Alternate Side and WFUV's Studio A, it was long before her husband, Jack White, had pulled the plug on the The White Stripes. Still, the English model with deep-rooted musical aspirations was quite open about her collaboration with White and her own rock 'n' roll dreams, long harbored since she was a young girl growing up near Manchester.  Check out TAS' session in Studio A with Elson, now on NPR.org. Link after the jump.

The White Stripes Call It Quits

Yes, there was rumor and hope that The White Stripes' Jack and Meg White were in the midst of working on a new album, but it's not to be. The duo announced today, February 2, that they were breaking up "to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way."

The TAS Top 20 For The Week Ending February 6

New albums from Bright Eyes and Broken Records stir up the TAS Top 20 while Warpaint's The Fool still sits smartly in the top spot.

TAS In Session: The Greenhornes

An eight-year hiatus between studio albums sounds extreme, but The Greenhornes have been a bit preoccupied. Bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler ended up in The Raconteurs and Loretta Lynn's Do-Whaters, Lawrence is also in The Dead Weather and singer/guitarist Craig Fox has two other bands. The spiky, garage-rocking trio finally reconvened last year to record their new album Four Stars and they dropped by The Alternate Side to play us four songs from that new record, out now on pal Jack White's Third Man Records.

The Alternate Side is a proud part of WFUV Public Radio from Fordham University,
