Solid Sound 2015 Lineup Includes Wilco, Real Estate, Shabazz Palaces, Mac DeMarco And More

Solid Sound 2015, the music and arts festival curated by Wilco, announced its impressive lineup of bands on Tuesday night via a trivia game with fans during a live Facebook event. Perhaps guessing Wilco or even Tweedy was easiest, but the mighty roster also includes Real Estate, Richard Thompson, Mac DeMarco, Shabazz Palaces, Ryley Walker, Luluc, Cibo Matto, the Felice Brothers, Parquet Courts, NRBQ, Taj Mahal, The Autumn Defense, King Sunny Ade and Bill Frisell. Tickets for Solid Sound 2015 are available now. This year's festival takes place June 26-28 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Teleman: TAS In Session

The London trio Teleman consists of brothers Thomas and Jonny Sanders and Pete Cattermoul. Although the guys released their debut album, Breakfast, earlier this year, they have all played together before in the band, Pete and The Pirates. That band had a bigger, bouncier rock feel, but Teleman takes a more stripped-back approach with a darker, synth-laden sound. Watch videos of Teleman in Studio A performing two songs from Breakfast and listen to their session and interview in the FUV Vault or via TAS on 91.5 WNYE on Friday, December 12, at 11 a.m. EST, also streaming online.

Recap: Holiday Cheer For FUV 2014

The warmth and exuberance that filled the Beacon Theatre for our sold-out 2014 benefit concert, Holiday Cheer for FUV, was an oasis of peace in unsettled times. The stormy winds of change were blowing just beyond the doors (and an actual Nor'easter was charging up the coast), but as led by Conor Oberst, his band, and observant storytellers like Natalie Merchant, Suzanne Vega, Laura Marling, The Lone Bellow, The Felice Brothers and Jonathan Wilson, the nearly three-hour concert was a robust celebration of the tenacious human spirit. Read the recap here.

Television Ticket Giveaway: Irving Plaza On December 28

Well, this is a no-brainer. Want to see one of New York's most totemic bands? A life force of this city's rock 'n' roll history? The iconic quartet Television, whose 1977 debut Marquee Moon persuaded an entire generation of musicians to go out and form a band, is playing Irving Plaza on December 28. Television has gone through some slight lineup changes over the years, notably the departure of Richard Lloyd in 2007, but Tom Verlaine, Billy Ficca and Fred Smith, along with Lloyd's replacement Jimmy Rip, will be on hand when Television plays Irving Plaza. The Alternate Side has a precious handful of tickets; just enter by Sunday, December 14, for a chance to win.

A Sunny Day In Glasgow Ticket Giveaway: Rough Trade On December 27

Although A Sunny Day in Glasgow's band members are not from Britain, but hail from Philly, Brooklyn and Sydney, Australia, the band is strongly indebted to their Scottish dream pop forebears Cocteau Twins. Their fourth and most recent album, the handsome Sea When Absent, was artfully pieced together via email exchanges given their far-flung locales. Fortunately A Sunny Day in Glasgow, which released its New Christmas Classics EP last week, has come together this fall for a brief U.S. tour, including a stop at Rough Trade on December 27. Interested in winning tickets to that show from The Alternate Side? Fill out an entry form and cross your fingers by this Sunday, December 14.

The Alternate Side is a proud part of WFUV Public Radio from Fordham University,
