Real Estate: FUV Live

Back in 2011, FUV host Darren DeVivo discovered Real Estate while listened to The Alternate Side—not bad when music discovery begins at home! Beguiled the New Jersey group's knack for jangling guitars, richly-woven melodies and catchy hooks, he became a fervent fan. Real Estate released its third album, Atlas, earlier this year and the band has just announced a show at Terminal 5 on October 2. Just recenty, the guys visited FUV's Studio A for a session, available now in the FUV Vault. Watch videos of live performances of Real Estate's "Crime," "Primitive" and more.

Lanterns On The Lake's Hazel Wilde: Five Essential Albums

Earlier this month, Lanterns on the Lake made a confident New York debut at Mercury Lounge in support of the quintet's dreamy, radiant and tempestuous second album, Until The Colours Run. Hailing from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Lanterns on the Lake is adroitly fronted by singer and keyboardist Hazel Wilde, a willowy presence with a bold, beautiful voice. The Alternate Side asked Wilde if she'd write about her Five Essential Albums for us and she did, finding inspiration in everything from the poetry of Bob Dylan to the Manchester swagger of the Gallagher brothers.

Watch Haim's New Video For Their Third Single

Tags: Haim

The sisters of Haim have a third single, "If I Could Change Your Mind," and a spanking new video to go along with it. The clip is directed by Warren Fu, who helmed Daft Punk's last two videos, and choreographed by Fatima Robinson who has worked with Rihanna, No Doubt and Prince. Watch Danielle, Este and Alana find their inner crazy-sexy-cool via dance (almost like a recent "Girls" episode).

Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks: FUV Live

Wig Out At Jagbags is the sixth full length album from Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, surpassing the output of Malkmus' other storied band, Pavement. As expected, Wig Out At Jagbags  is a quirky, rocking mélange of witty lyricism and rugged instrumentation. The quartet of Malkmus, Joanna Bolme, Mike Clark and Jake Morris stopped by Studio A to play some of the new songs and discuss music, board games and travel. Watch videos of the band in session here and listen to the interview with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks now in the FUV Vault or on the air this Friday, February 28, on TAS on 91.5 WNYE, also streaming online.

Win Tickets To Wild Beasts At Music Hall Of Williamsburg On March 4

On Wild Beasts' fourth album, Present Tense, the band eschews guitars (mostly) for synths and electronic flourishes, but their secret weapon is frontman Hayden Thorpe's idiosyncratic, thrilling vocals. Not surprisingly, Wild Beasts have sold out their upcoming gig at Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 4, but The Alternate Side staff has managed to get our hands on some tickets. Just enter for your chance to win a pair of Wild Beasts tickets by this Sunday, March 2, at 5pm EST.
