Two women with two of the strongest albums of the year, Grimes (Visions) and Cat Power (Sun), have run into serious tour travails due to medical — and financial — reasons. Grimes has cancelled her autumn European tour due to health reasons while Cat Power says she might have to bow out of her European shows because of medical problems and bankruptcy.
Grimes, who cancelled Canadian dates because of struggles with her hearing, has had to cancel her European tour which was to begin November 13 in Bristol, England. Grimes tweeted that it was "depressing" to cancel more shows and that she would update fans as to which UK/EU dates might be rescheduled, although refunds are being offered for the shows listed below.
As for Cat Power, real name Chan Marshall, she posted a photo on Instagram with a note explaining why she might be forced to cancel her European jaunt which is to begin on November 26 in Amsterdam.
Writes Marshall: "I may have to cancel my European tour due to bankruptcy & my health struggle with angioedema. I have not thrown in any towel, I am trying ot figure out what best I can do. Heart broken. Worked so hard. Got sick day after Sun came out & been struggling to keep all points of me in equilibrium: mind, spirit, body healthy, centered & grounded. I am doing the best I can. I f**king love this planet. I refuse to give up. Though I may need to restrategize for my security & health."
Cat Power is still touring North America; her tour ends November 8 in Los Angeles.
