How To Destroy Angels

Trent Reznor's How To Destroy Angels Will Release An EP In November, An Album In 2013

How To Destory Angels, the new project of Trent Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig, fellow Oscar-winning collaborator Atticus Ross and Reznor's frequent creative partner Rob Sheridan, will release a six-song EP, The Omen, in November.

An album will follow in the spring and, perhaps most surprising, the indie-leaning Reznor has decided to sign with a major label, Columbia Records.

The Omen will be released on November 13 digitally and on 12-inch vinyl.

Reznor announced the news via a letter posted on Facebook and in a press release and addressed his decision to sign with Columbia after years of releasing his work independentally.

"Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia," writes Reznor, "we've really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There's a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings."

Reznor also writes that the group, which has posted its 2010 self-titled EP to stream on its Soundcloud page, will be making videos and is planning on performing live.
