Watch: Shearwater Playing "Insolence" At WFUV's SXSW 2012 Showcase

Shearwater, on a bill with the Punch Brothers and Gary Clark Jr., brought a majestic intensity to WFUV's second SXSW showcase on Friday afternoon at the Austin Convention Center.

The group, fronted by Jonathan Meiburg who co-founded Shearwater back in 1999 with fellow (and now former) Okkervill River bandmate Will Sheff (who departed Shearwater in 2008), released their eighth album, Animal Joy, last month on Sub Pop. At Friday's show, Shearwater explored a generous chunk of their album, from their muscular single "Breaking the Yearlings" to the heady "You As You Were."
