Listen: Björk Interview And Guest DJ Set On WFUV

Björk, the Icelandic iconoclast,  artistic adventurer and occasional friend of elves (and Stephen Colbert), commences her 10-show Biophilia residency in New York tonight, February 3, at the New York Hall of Science in Queens and continues through February 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 before she relocates to Manhattan.

The balance of the residency, presented in conjunction with The Creators Project, takes place at Roseland Ballroom on February 22, 25, 28 and March 2. Tickets can still be purchased here for New York Hall of Science and here for Roseland Ballroom.

Last week Rita Houston, music director of The Alternate Side's sister station WFUV, visited Björk at her Brooklyn home studio and chatted with the 46-year-old singer about the scope of the upcoming shows, the challenge of reworking older songs to fit homemade instruments and a 24-member Icelandic choir and her life as a part-time New Yorker. In addition, Björk chose a handful of songs for a guest DJ set. Stream the interview now or check out Rita Houston's Whole Wide World on 90.7 WFUV tonight, February 3, at 7 p.m. ET.
