The Cure's Robert Smith At Bestival 2011

The Cure Set To Release Live Double Album For Charity In December

The Cure, who kick off their brief "Reflections" tour on November 15 in London, will release a live double album on December 5 documenting the band's powerful, nearly 3-hour set  at this summer's Bestival 2011 on the tiny Isle of Wight.

The album will be released on the indie Sunday Best label, owned by Bestival organizer Rob da Bank, and it will benefit a local charity, the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, aiding young adults under 25 with counseling and guidance.

The Cure: Bestival Live 2011 album will be available as either 2 CDs or a digital download.

Da Bank told the local Isle of Wight newspaper that working with the Cure has been a career highlights. "Since I was 15 and back-combing my hair, donning my sister's eyeliner and singing the lyrics to 'A Forest' into my hairbrush, I have had an unhealthy fascination with the Cure," he said. "To say it reached a peak at Bestival 2011 is an understatement, as after seven years of pestering I not only landed the Cure to headline Bestival, but now appear to be putting out one of their live records on my own record label."

Songs played during the marathon Bestival performance included "Just Like Heaven." "The Walk," "Plainsong," "In Between Days" and "Lovesong."

As The Alternate Side reported earlier, the Cure will bring their "Reflections" retrospective to Los Angeles, November 21-23, and New York's Beacon Theater, November 25-27.

Sunday Best was one of the nearly 100 UK labels that lost nearly all of their physical stock in the devastating fire that consumed the Sony/PIAS warehouse in August, during the British riots.
