Noel Gallagher Posts Video For "The Death Of You And Me"

The battle-scarred and estranged Gallagher brothers have been embracing new chapters of their post-Oasis lives: Liam recently released an album and toured the States with his new band, Beady Eye, while older brother Noel has finally released the first video off of his upcoming solo album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on his site today, July 25. The single is due out on August 21 while the album drops in the UK and Europe, via Gallagher's Sour Mash label, on October 17 and in North and South America on November 8.

The video for "The Death Of You And Me," a track which likely has a significant Oasis-laced subtext, sounds, well, like Oasis (that is, Beatles-reverent) although Noel's reedier, more gentle vocals sound, oddly, a bit like Damon Albarn. There's an interlude of rollicking brass that eventually brings everything home. It is a hopeful, pretty track with a catchy hook ... though we suspect the "storm cloud" referenced refers to Noel's pugilistic sibling whose response to his brother's early July announcement of two new records was the tweeted proclamation, "S*****g."

Noel is touring the UK this October to support his solo debut (the second album, a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, will follow in 2012). No Stateside dates yet, but we'll keep you posted.
