Portishead Plan North American Tour This October

Portishead fans, who thought that their only chance to see the elusive band on this side of the Atlantic was at the ATP Festival in early October, now have good reason to rejoice; the group has announced a full North American tour this October, their first since 1998.

The trio will play New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on October 4 and 5 and tickets are on sale now.

After curating and playing All Tomorrow's Parties' I'll Be Your Mirror weekend in Asbury Park, New Jersey on October 1 and 2, Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley, accompanied by bassist Jim Barr, drummer Clive Deamer and John Baggott on keyboards, will play cities including New York, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles as well as the Corona Festival in Mexico.

There are limited tickets available from now until July 14 via Portishead's own website with more tickets going on sale to the general public on July 15. Tickets for the Chicago show are available on July 22.

Opening for Portishead is Thought Forms who've been touring with the band in Europe.
