St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark)

St. Vincent On Track For New Album, Due This September

It's been two years since the release of St. Vincent's Actor, but the dynamic singer and guitarist, real name Annie Clark, will return later this summer with a new, 11-track album called Strange Mercy, due out on 4AD on September 13 Stateside and September 12 in the UK.

Clark partnered with Actor producer John Congleton again on this project, recorded in Dallas. The pair also recruiting Beck's keyboardist and musical director Brian LeBarton, Midlake drummer MacKenzie Smith, Grammy winner and multi-instrumentalist Bobby Sparks, violinist Daniel Hart, Evan Smith on woodwinds and guitarist/sound engineer Phil Palazzolo.

She seems to be leaning to blunt, one-word titles as well, with "Cruel," "Cheerleader" and "Surgeon" noted on her label's website.

St. Vincent recently performed alongside the likes of Ted Leo, tUnE-yArDs and Wye Oak for the "Our Concert Could Be Your Life" show last month at New York's Bowery Ballroom, unfurling a stirring cover of Big Black's incendiary "Kerosene." Check out the entire concert, inspired by Michael Azerrad's rock 'n' roll classic Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes From the American Indie Underground 1981-1991, on NPR Music.
