Bon Iver's Justin Vernon

Audio: Download Bon Iver's "Calgary"

Bon Iver's second, self-titled album, won't be released until that summery solstice of June 21 (June 20 in the UK and Europe), but the band is tossing a springtime bone at fans, making the single "Calgary" available for download on their website.

Utilize the widget below to download for the price of your email address or listen to the stream of this hushed, majestic song, co-written by Justin Vernon with Matthew McCaughan. The track takes a more upbeat trajectory, propelled by drums and a degree of urgency, but still sounds as if it were conceived in a cathedral.  The lyrics for "Calgary," darkly and cryptically rendered, are up on the band's YouTube page.

As The Alternate Side reported earlier, Vernon and his pals have announced North American dates this summer, kicking off on July 22 and making their way to New York on August 9 to play Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Prospect Park Bandshell.

The band is also slated to play "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on May 23.
