Will Sheff with his Okkervil River bandmates

TAS Interview (SXSW Artist): Will Sheff of Okkervil River

Okkervil River return with their first album in three years, I Am Very Far, on May 10 and they've been rolling out new material from the record at SXSW this week. The Alternate Side's Russ Borris caught up with frontman Will Sheff for a quick tête-à-tête and was surprised to learn that if it weren't for SXSW, Okkervil River would have never gotten its big break.

The band, which plays Antone's at 1 a.m. CDT tonight (we'll count it as late on March 18) has two more SXSW gigs on Saturday, March 19 at the MOG at the Mohawk party at 2 p.m. CDT and a Filter showcase at Lustre Pearl at 5 p.m. CDT. But if you're not in Austin, no problem. Okkervil River will be touring through Europe in May and will kick off a long Stateside tour on May 31 in Atlanta, making their way to New York's Terminal 5 on June 7.

The Alternate Side is a proud part of WFUV Public Radio from Fordham University,
