Fever Ray Finds A Fever Dream Look For Next Week's European Tour

You really didn't expect Karin Dreijer-Andersson of Fever Ray to tour Europe looking, well, normal, did you?  The blissfully eccentric Dreijer-Andersson, whose memorable appearance at a Swedish radio awards show outdid every Lady Gaga attention-seeking stunt, will begin a brief European tour next week with - it seems - shaved pate and modest plaid.

There is an explanation, of sorts, on Fever Ray's website in which Dreijer-Andersson writes: "Its been medieval times for a while now. Nasdaq have been suffering. The banks and the investors. Fever Ray have been suffering as well. Things have been s**t. But Fever Ray rises on 9. Like Wall Street Zombies they are now back to juice out the last drips of humanity. Led by the taskmaster Karin, the warlords of monetary jungle are ready to give you a last piece of monotonic bourgeois joy before you and the world around you implode."

Okay.

As Dreijer-Andersson more thoroughly explains,  Fever Ray have collaborated with director Andreas Nilsson, who helmed videos for "If I Had A Heart" and "Stranger Than Kindness,"  and will be guiding (or inspiring) the live shows for this upcoming European jaunt.

Late last week, Fever Ray also announced that a cover of Peter Gabriel's "Mercy Street," a staple of the band's live shows, had been recorded in a proper studio and will be available on September 6 as a limited edition 7-inch vinyl single and MP3, backed with "Dry and Dusty." The single is available for pre-order now, plus you can also buy the "Wet Pants" t-shirt which features that new, bare-headed look.
