Antony And The Johnsons Plan Swanlights Album and Book This Fall

Antony and the Johnsons will release their fourth album, Swanlights, this October with an accompanying art book of Antony Hegarty's paintings, collages, poetry and photographs. The record will be released on October 5 in the States on Secretly Canadian and a day earlier in the UK and Europe on Rough Trade. The 144-page book, published by Abrams Images, can be purchased separately and will also include the CD.

Not much else is known yet about Swanlights, the followup to The Crying Light, but the album art which seems to take a poignant, disturbing stance on the slaughter of polar bears, especially since Hegarty has vigorously supported environmental organizations and campaigns.

Around the time of Copenhagen's Climate Change summit last December, Hegarty wrote on the band's site: "Coverage of this is better in Europe than in the US media because of the powerful oil lobby. I just hope they are building space ships big enough for all of us. I for one have no interest in human life without Nature. I am tied to the mast of this place."
