SXSW 2010 Recap: Rita Houston's Whole Wide World

Team WFUV and The Alternate Side interviewed 23 bands at SXSW 2010 - from the xx to Neon Indian to Frightened Rabbit - and from morning until late night we wandered up and down the whole of Austin's jam-packed Sixth Street and beyond seeing as many bands as we could, bouncing from the gently melodic Freelance Whales to party synth-popsters Casiokids to aggravated Brit rockers The Chapman Family.

Last Friday night, Rita Houston, Alisa Ali and Kara Manning convened for a very special edition of Rita's Whole Wide World to discuss the highlights and inspiring discoveries of SXSW 2010 and revisit interviews and new (and unreleased) music courtesy of Margaret Cho, Melissa Auf der Maur, Local Natives, Spoon, Phantogram, Chew Lips, Cate Le Bon, the xx, Villagers, Savoir Adore, Morning Benders and many more.

Listen to this new music-packed, three-hour show in our WFUV archive now. It's the next best thing to being in Austin, slathered in barbecue sauce, drinking a cheap beer and wearing earplugs.
