Morrissey Abandons Liverpool Show After Two Songs When Struck By A Drink Container

Just two songs into his set at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Saturday night, Morrissey abandoned his show and walked off stage after being hit by a drink container thrown at his head. After 25 minutes, a crew member announced to fans that the singer would not complete the show, thereby ended his UK tour on a dismal note.

Sky News reports that the former Smiths frontman had performed "This Charming Man" and had launched into the second song of his set, "Black Cloud" and was shaking hands with fans when he was allegedly hit by what was either a half full plastic container or a bottle. A spokesman for the arena said that they were reviewing CCTV video "to ascertain exactly what happened."

Two weeks ago, Morrissey collapsed onstage in Swindon after having what were said to be breathing difficulties. That show was cancelled and Morrissey was taken to the hospital, but released the following day. However, a show in Bournemouth was postponed after the incident.

Morrissey is supposed to continue his tour in the Netherlands this Monday.
